Helsinki Guide
Helsinki is a destination that offers many exciting sights and experiences to every visitor.
This is the Capital of Design we’re talking about, so it’s certainly worth visiting the Design Museum, that houses collections of thousands examples of industrial, fashion and graphic design, from local and international designers.
Continue to the Uspenski Cathedral, to see something different. Unlike any other finnish building, this monumental orthodox Cathedral was built in 1809 by the Russians, to celebrate their victory over Sweden, in a Russian byzantine style.
Another church is competing for the most impressive religious site in Helsinki. The Temppelinaukio Church, commonly known as “The Stone Church”, is actually a stone church, topped with an impressive glass dome.
The Temppelinaukio Church is famous for its acoustics, making it a popular concert venue!Don’t miss out on Helsinki’s exceptional art heritage. Helsinki’s National Gallery is ideal for that matter, housed in the Ateneum Museum and exhibiting beautiful masterpieces of Finnish art from the 18th century.
If you are lucky, your stay in Helsinki might coincide with a concert at Finlandia Hall. Be sure to grab your ticket and attend the concert for a unique experience, as this is the most important concert hall in the whole country!
Finnish is the official language in Helsinki, but most of the locals do speak excellent English.
