Πληροφορίες για Ibiza

Ibiza’s largest cities are the city of Ibiza (Vila d’Eivissa), Santa Eulària des Riu and San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany). The city of Ibiza is divided into two main regions, the Old Town (Dalt Vila), perched on a hill by the sea and the modern part of the town, called Eixample.

Internationally famous for its nightlife and exotic beaches, Ibiza ranks among the world’s travel destinations, a favourite choice of a wide spectrum of travellers, including youngsters, solo travellers, couples and families!

Established as the primary clubbing Mecca in the world, Ibiza sees its population of 132,500 multiplied by 45 times during the summer season; from May to early October, that is!

But there’s more to Ibiza than the never-ending clubbing and ultra-vibrant nightlife. The Castle of Ibiza, surrounding the Old Town, is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 and is the first of the many points of historical and cultural interest in the White Isle.

If you’re a party animal, Ibiza is your heaven on earth. If you prefer quieter choices, spending quality time at the beach, exploring quaint villages and getting to know the real essence of a foreign culture, Ibiza is also the right place for you; you just have to look off the beaten path and away from the major tourist hubs.

The airport of Ibiza (Aeroport d' Eivissa) is located 7.5 kilometres southwest of the city centre and can be reached by taxi and buses No. 10, 9 and 24.

Ibiza Guide

Head to Ibiza Town and climb up the Castle of Ibiza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that should not be left out of your itinerary. Dominating the Old Town of Ibiza (Dalt Vila), the castle was built during the 16th century to provide protection from the French and Turkish attacks. Walk around the ramparts and allow plenty of time to explore the wealth of cultural and historical attractions inside the walls.

Highlights include:

  • The Cathedral of Ibiza (Catedral d’Eivissa)

  • The Archaeological Museum of Ibiza

  • The Puig des Molins necropolis

Continue to the Can Marçà Cave and enjoy the marvellous view to the Port of San Miguel, right before you get inside and start making your way through the numerous halls of the cave, from the Entrance to the Temple, the Buddha Room and the Waterfall Hall.

If you’re a nature lover, in Ibiza you can find many interesting hiking trails, along with an amazing wealth of dreamy beaches with fine white sand and crystal clear waters. Water sports facilities are very well-organised and everywhere to be found, as well as quieter spots, secret coves and bays, if relaxation is what you need most. Playa d’en Bossa is the obvious choice for people-watching and being in the spotlight, while the Benirrás beach, Cala d'Hort, S'Aigo Blanca and Cala Comte are some of the finest laid-back alternatives.

The ultimate, number one attraction of Ibiza is, beyond a doubt, the clubbing scene of the island. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a fan or not; pulling an all-nighter at one of the world’s greatest clubs is simply an experience not to be missed. Dance like there’s no tomorrow at Amnesia, Pacha, Space, Privilege, Ushuaia, meet the crowds, make new friends and create memories that will last forever!

For those of you who are not the party animal type, head to the northern parts of Ibiza; places like Portinatx and Port de San Miguel seem as if they were never touched by tourism.

Catalan and Spanish are Ibiza’s official languages, while the local dialect is known as lbicenco.
