It’s the fourth largest of the Canary Islands, carved from the earth’s depths and painted with nature’s most beautiful palette. Curious? Search for cheap air tickets to Lanzarote, Tenerife’s most “dangerous” rival! An island blessed with rich vegetation, dreamy beaches and an extraordinary peace, Lanzarote will mesmerise your senses. Moreover, the island has strong artistic influences, a decent cultural wealth and a major touristic development – but not overwhelmingly; just enough to keep busy, whilst remaining charming, idyllic and beautiful. Find your own shelter away from everyday life, book a hotel in Lanzarote and get ready for the time of your life!
The Canary Islands are heavily influenced by Africa, that’s a fact; in Lanzarote this influence is more evident than ever! But it was a European that made Lanzarote known to the public, back in the 14th century. The rest of the world loved Lanzarote – and it has been so ever since!
Lanzarote is a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, thanks to its unique geological consistency and extraordinary natural setting.
Lanzarote is a green island, remnant of the great volcanic heritage of our world. Magical beaches and sunny coastlines combined with cultural, architectural and artistic sights; humanity and nature at their best! Visit Lanzarote and enjoy a holiday of delicious cuisine, exquisite entertainment choices, unique culture and a fully relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere!
Lanzarote’s airport (Aeropuerto de Lanzarote) is located in San Bartolomé, Las Palmas, 5 kilometres southwest of Lanzarote’s largest city, Arrecife. It is accessible by buses and taxis.
Getting around Lanzarote
You can get around Lanzarote using the island’s extensive bus network. Fares start at 1.30€ and minimum taxi fare costs 3.00€.
In Lanzarote you’ll find many points of interest; you could just have a tour around the island and see it all, or spend your time there enjoying the dreamy, sunny beaches. Or you can do both!
- Arrecife is Lanzarote’s largest city and has around half of the island’s population. Nontheless, it remains a small and rather quiet city compared to other capitals of the Canaries.
“Arrecife” means “coral” in Spanish; the city is full of them!
- Puerto del Carmen is the ideal location for those of you who cannot wait to spend their days at the beach. This is the island’s most popular spot, fully equipped with hotels, resorts, restaurants, cafes and all sorts of stores and boutiques.
- Playa Blanca is a lot like Puerto del Carmen, with many hotels and boutiques emerging every day, but with many beaches, quiet places, secret caves and quaint coves as well.
- Yaiza is the most peaceful and secluded of all the popular locations in Lanzarote, widely known as a gate to the Timanfaya National Park.
The Timanfaya National Park represents the “heritage” of one of the most important volcanic eruptions in the history of humanity, lasting from 1730 to 1736; it’s a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993.
From there, you could continue to La Caleta de Famara, one of the most beautiful and popular – crowded – spots in Lanzarote. Expect idyllic views with dramatic contrasts and a youthful spirit with a bohemian mood.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy the view from the Mirador del Rio, before you leave La Caleta de Famara. A work of art by local artist César Manrique, the observatory is designed to look like a ship and offers ideal spots to catch astonishing panoramic views.
