River Ebro flows through Logroño and is spanned by four bridges. The Puente de Piedra (Stone Bridge) is the oldest; built in the 11th century, it is now a symbol and landmark of Logroño – and a popular stop across the pilgrimage of the Sacred Way of St. James.

As you wander around the city centre, your eye will be caught by the size of the religious and architectural wealth of Logroño.

    • The Cathedral of Logroño (Catedral de Santa María de la Redonda) dates back to the 15th century and its Baroque twin towers still loom over the central market, while its interior is decorated with masterpieces by famous artists like Gregorio Fernández and Michelangelo.

    • The Iglesia de Santa María de Palacio is the oldest church in La Rioja, dating back to 1130. At first a part of the palace itself, during the 13th century it was restored and extended, obtaining its present Gothic spire that now defines Logroño’s skyline.

    • Just a few steps away, the Mudéjar tower of the Iglesia de San Bartolomé is yet another important landmark of the city, built in the 12th century in honour of St. Bartholomew, Logroño’s patron saint.
