London Guide

You can start your day at the Bloomsbury district of central London. That is where you will find the famous British Museum. It’s one of the country’s oldest and the world’s largest museums, with exhibitions about natural history and art, Egyptian, Etruscan, ancient Greek, Roman, European and Middle Eastern galleries.

Keep in mind that, if you’d like to see it all, then you should definitely visit more than once (or even twice), since we’re talking about more than 8,000,000 exhibits!

The Rosetta Stone, the precious finding that helped modern humanity decipher ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and the Parthenon Marbles are highlights not to be missed.
Head out to the Westminster area, where you’ll find the world famous Buckingham Palace, the royal residence since 1837. The palace is encircled by many hotels, cafes and restaurants and it’s usually crowded. Westminster Abbey is admittedly the most sacred religious building in Britain and has been characterised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

At a short distance, you should not miss the National Gallery, housing a great collection of paintings, before you reach Parliament Square and what has become probably the most iconic and well known clock in the world: Big Ben!

When it’s time for you to move on, cross the London Bridge and you’ll find yourself at the South Bank of Thames, and London.

Actually the name “London Bridge” doesn’t refer to one particular bridge, but rather encompasses all the bridges that have ever been built to span the river!
Ask anyone and they’ll tell you, the major point of interest down at the South Bank is a Ferris wheel! Well, not any Ferris wheel, but the one and only London Eye! You might have to stand in line for a while and pay a fair amount of money, but the panoramic view from London Eye is a must-have experience in London!

While at the South Bank, you could also visit Tate Modern, the largest Modern Art Gallery in Britain, with approximately 4,000,000 visitors every year!

Right at the heart of London, the City of London has many more choices in entertainment, restaurants, bars and accommodation to offer.

Destination: the Tower of London! Visiting the Tower of London is like travelling back to a time of kings, wars and “controversial” ways of governing. A beautiful fortress, an outstanding bridge (Tower Bridge) and a fun way to spend your afternoon.

If you’d like to know more on the history of the City of London, the Museum of London is the right place for you, which is actually the largest civil history museum in the world.

Continue further on, walk the bustling streets of Soho and spot some fabulous bars, boutiques and beautiful corners. Take a stroll around Notting Hill and you’ll immediately feel the authentic, village-like atmosphere of the area.

Next stop, Oxford Street and Mayfair, a heaven-on-earth for all fashion fanatics out there. Expect designer clothes like Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan and Versace, and the best of the best as far as shopping is concerned. If money is not an issue, just remember to book enough baggage allowance for your flight. If, on the other hand, you travel on a budget, you can always go window shopping!

Last but not least, do by all means visit the Camden area, with its great vibe that the word “alternative” doesn’t even begin to describe! Up next are elegant Hampstead, lush Richmond.. You’re getting tired? And we’ve only scratched the surface!
