    Information about Paris

Paris, “the city of all cities” according to Victor Hugo, is the French capital and one of our dream destinations to visit with friends or the love of our life. Paris, with a population of 2,300,000, never stops to grow and evolve, extending its long history and attracting more and more visitors from all over the world.

Paris escaped bombing during both of the World Wars. As a result, it retains its authentic charm, building upon its original architecture and principal foundations.
Visit Paris and you will come across many historic buildings and national monuments, hand in hand with cutting edge architecture, modern galleries and world class art museums. After all, how could the mother of arts remain silent? This is the home of Renoir, Matisse and Monet we’re talking about. Name the first painter or artist that comes to mind and we bet he’s French!

Walk the city from one side of Seine to the other and enjoy what will probably be the most romantic, idyllic experience of your life.

    Airport

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (Aéroport Paris–Charles de Gaulle) is the main international airport of Paris, 25 kilometres northeast of Paris, accessible by the suburban railway (PER B), trains (TVG) and buses.

Paris’s second international airport is Paris Orly Airport (Aéroport de Paris-Orly), 13 kilometres south of Paris, connecting passengers to the city centre by suburban railway (PER B), trams (T7) and airport shuttles.

Beauvais–Tillé Airport (Aéroport de Beauvais-Tillé) is Paris’s third airport, serving mostly low-cost airlines. It is located in Tillé, around 88 kilometres of Paris.

    Getting around Paris

You can get around Paris using the suburban railway (PER), buses, trams (3 lines) and the metro (16 lines), or rent a bike. Ticket fares start at 1.70€ and minimum taxi fare costs around 2.42€.

    Paris Guide

Paris is unofficially divided in two areas, the east “working class” and the west “upper class” one. This division can trace its roots back to the not so distant years of 1850’s, when Baron Georges-Eugène Haussmann’s action initiated the migration of the rich upper class to the more developed west area, leaving the poor behind.

It is the west side where you will find most of the architectural sights and art museums, while the east side is dominated by the Sorbonne University and surrounded by many alternative bars, popular to students and young locals.

    • Of all the museums in Paris, the Louvre is the greatest and one of the largest in the world. Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and Nike of Samothrace stand among other 35,000 masterpieces of artists from all over the world, archaeological and cultural collections.

    • Centre Georges Pompidou is Paris’s second most significant art centre with the National Museum of Modern Art, the Public Library and many notable temporary art exhibitions, housed in a futuristic building.

A neighbourhood you cannot miss is definitely Montmartre, the most iconic hill in Paris. Take a stroll in the streets of Montmartre and allow yourself at least two hours to climb up the beautiful Sacré-Cœur – you can walk or take the cable car - , at the highest point of the city.

Nearby, there’s the legendary Moulin Rouge and Notre Dame de Paris, another most precious religious building for all Parisians.

Continue your exploration making your way through Champs-Élysées, Paris’s principal avenue, dotted with numerous national monuments. Place de la Concorde is the major square of the French capital, holding a crucial role in all of French history.

A few blocks further, L’Arc de Triomphe is an eternal reminder of Napoleon’s glorious victory and of all those who fought during the French Revolution.

Last stop couldn’t be anything else other than the Eiffel Tower, the principal landmark of Paris. Built in 1889 as an exhibit for the World Fair, it ended up having a permanent place in Paris’s skyline.
The official language is French. Communication in English is always possible, but you could use some basic phrases in French.
