Getting around Tirana

Tirana’s city centre lies around Skanderbeg Square, named after Albania’s national hero George Kastrioti Skanderbeg.
Skanderbeg’s imposing statue is situated in the centre of the square. Around the square you will find a number of interesting sights of Tirana.
- The Clock Tower is another important landmark of great historical value for Albania. 90 steps will lead you to the tower’s top, at a height of 30 metres, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the city.
- Nearby, the Et’hem Bey Mosque is considered to be one of Albania’s most idyllic religious sites. It was built within 28 years and it’s the only mosque that survived both World War II and Enver Hoxha’s atheist propaganda.
- Continue to the National History Museum of Albania that houses a rich collection of archaeological treasures and historical artifacts that trace Albania’s history back to ancient times.
- Leaving Skanderbeg Square, pay a visit to Albania’s National Arts Gallery, with works of art by national artists dating back to the 13th century.
Outside the city, at the foot of Mount Dajti, the Porcelani area is located, where, as the name implies, the famous porcelains are created.
